Coal fired electricity plants: In 2023, China accounted for 95% of the world’s new coal fired power plants built. It now accounts for 59.2% of the global power plants in operation. India is second with 13.2% and the United States third at 8.3%. One tonne of coal being burnt creates a minimum of 3.66 tonnes of C)2 gas. There were approximately 10 billion tonnes of coal burnt in 2023. I’ll leave the math to you.
Donald J Trump: If he gets elected, he has promised to “drill, baby drill.” He has also promised to open up huge tracks of protected land to fossil fuel companies. He does not believe in science nor the dire warnings of climatologists that human caused climate change is under way and threatening the future of the planet.
Vladimir Putin: If he looks like losing in Ukraine, he may resort to nuclear weapons. He has stated that the use will be restricted to limited nuclear weaponry. Has he not heard the word “escalation?”
