A Canadian Cousin’s Take On U.S.A Democracy- Such As It Is

Canada, a parliamentary democracy, has many political parties. The two main parties on the federal level are the Liberals and the Conservatives. These parties have been around since the founding days of Canada. Over the years, other parties have been added that suit just about every Canadian’s political taste buds.

Federal political parties holding seats in parliament in no particular order of importance are:

The Conservative Party

The Liberal Party

The Green Party of Canada

The Bloc Quebecois

The New Democratic Party (NDP)

The People’s Party of Canada

Then there are a rag-tag bunch of small parties that always garner some votes. These parties have yet to win a seat in parliament but they at least provide Canadians with a wide range of choices and some very good entertainment. These parties are; The Animal Protection Party, The Canadian Nationalist Party, The Christian Heritage Party, The Communist Party of Canada, Free Party Canada, The Libertarian Party of Canada, The Marijuana Party, National Citizens Alliance, The Rhinocerous Party, The Stop Climate Change Party and the…
