All moral dilemmas involving facing what is for the common good over the individual. It happened when we switched over from horse and carts to automobiles (cars kill drivers and pedestrians); when we go to war (bombing of civilians close to a military target); in times of tragedy, medics have to triage victims. Autonomous vehicles are in their infancy but they are here to stay. Keep in mind, they do not drive drunk, they do not text while driving, they do not eat breakfast while driving or put on makeup while driving. Automobile fatalities in the US in 2018 were 36,000 or 98 people a day. Surely self-driving cars can improve on that.
