Writers, regardless of their age, their gender, their genre are courageous. It does take courage to put your thoughts down in some form that is open for public scrutiny, to expose your ideals, your ideas, your beliefs, your soul, and in many cases to criticism. It does not matter what side of a political schism you on; if you are religious or an atheist, a realist or a generalist, any time you put your innermost thoughts down on paper, you open yourself up to possible ridicule, contradiction, snide commentary, and in some countries, arrest. The latter case would depend on which country you live in of course.

According to www.yourdictionary.com, a definition of courage is: The quality of a confident character not to be afraid or intimidated easily but without being incautious or inconsiderate.

There are seven billion of us on this planet and every one of us is an individual. Of course, some of us are more individual than others. For example, if you are a citizen of North Korea and under the iron rule of “Dear Leader”, then your thoughts belong to the state. Your innermost thoughts can not be spoken least of all written.
