Black Friday Conflicts With Conservation
The earth is in peril according to the latest research from climatologists.
Rampant consumerism is anathema to conservationists, scientists, and climatologists who are ringing the alarm bells on the ongoing degradation of not only the oceans but the very air we breathe. I recall some scenes from a movie made about the last days of Hitler and the Nazis. Many people refused to believe the end was near. There were parties and festivities going on while the Allied forces drew nearer and nearer to Berlin.
Aren't we humans carrying on in a similar manner? The latest reports indicate we have 10 to 12 years to reverse the current greenhouse emissions but a vast majority of western country's consumers are carrying on as if there was not a problem in sight. Is this a “head in the sand” attitude?
If we ignore the problem, party hardy and keep doing what we have always been doing the problem will go away?
