Great article Melanie. Over the years I have culled my cohort of friends down to a select 8, these friends being people with the following traits:

Open minds

Prefer light to darkness

Optimistic

Empathetic

Believe in truth over bullshit

Forgving

Loyal

Open minded

It is very difficult to sink into the murk with these traits.
