First of all, what are values and ethics? According to ethicssage.com, they are defined as follows:

Values are essential to ethics. Ethics is concerned with human actions, and the choice of those actions. Ethics evaluates those actions, and the values that underlie them. It determines which values should be pursued, and which shouldn’t. As I discussed in last week’s blog, courage is one such value. Those who value courage are willing to stand up for what they believe, even in the face of strong condemnation. Courage is a moral value when it deals with right and wrong conduct.”

When I think of values, I think of them as the good inherit in people. The same with ethics. Mass murderers like Vladimir Putin and Kim Jung Il do not have values. Values elevate people. Values inspire good deeds. Values are connected with empathy, sympathy, the need to do good, to be fair and judicial, to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

There are many more descriptive’s for people with values and ethics. A belief in fair play. Doing the right thing. Helping the less fortunate. Contributing to betterment of society.

In truth, values and ethics are two closely related concepts that shape a person’s behaviour and guide their decision-making process…
