I liked this statement: "Moreover, think of your writing as a small business":
I have owned and run a number of businesses in my life and there are many issues involved other than "operating the business", which in this case is writing. There are only so many hours in a day and all those hours cannot be spent on writing. In the business of writing, there is reading, coming up with ideas, drafting the ideas, editing the finished work, figuring the best way to distribute writing, bookkeeping, record keeping, coffee breaks, speaking with other people (writers) coffee and lunch breaks and then of course dealing with brain freezes. The three chores that I find that take up most of my time are reading, writing and editing. The coming up with ideas or topics - not so much.
