I remember my during my first visit to the US I was invited to a Party. Back then, I had a real Kiwi accent and was often mistaken for an Aussie. One party goer asked if I had been to Sydney (Australia) . I said yeah. He asked if they still had the kangaroos stampedes there. I asked why and seems he met an Aussie guy who told him once a year, kangaroos stampeded through the city, causing all sorts of mayhem and destruction. With a straight face I said Oh Yeah. He said that would never happen in the USA. People would get their guns and kill all those suckers. Should mention Sydney was a city of 5.0M people at that time and nary a kangaroo for 200 miles - except in the zoo. Another guest thought the Sydney Harbor bridge connected Austrlia and New Zealand.
