I’m Wondering How I Will Spend All This Money
My Medium Payday
I received an email from Medium today as follows:
Hello Michael Trigg! From June 1 — July 1, 2024, your members only stories on Medium earned a total of $0.46 (USD). Your payment was sent to your connected Stripe account on July 10, 2024, and will automatically transfer to your bank account or debit card on file. This may take up to 5–7 business days.
I like to think I am a reasonably consistent writer and I have received many positive comments about my articles. I have around 750 followers and I post my articles on Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter.
I have been pondering on what the cost is to Medium for sending me this $0.46 cents.
I suppose there is a bookkeeper of sorts with earning reports being generated by a computer. There must be 2–3 human beings involved in the process so at a guess, using standard bookkeeping gnome wages, the cost would have been around $75.
Very fortunately, Medium is not my main source of income. I mainly write on Medium to get things off my chest.
Why doesn't Medium save time and money by only paying out once earnings have reached a certain level — such as $10?
