Is There A Hell?

For some people, I hope so!

I am not a religious person and have no personal god, even though I was raised in a church-going family. I don’t believe in heaven and hell but if there is a hell and I had a vote for a perfect candidate, at the top of my list would be Vladimir (Child Killer) Putin.

This evil little man epitomizes all that is wrong in the world of dictators. He is in good company with the likes of Kim Jung Il, Xi Jinping, Bashar al-Assad, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and Raúl Castro, to name just a few.

Even though the concept of hell is deeply ingrained in various religious and cultural beliefs for centuries, to all intents and purposes it is a place of fiction. It is mostly depicted as a place of eternal punishment, pain, and suffering for those who have committed egregious sins or wrongdoings during their earthly lives, a perfect place for Vladimir Putin to spend eternity.

However, there are those who feel that condemning people to hell is not only counterproductive but also antithetical. My position is that most humans on this planet have the choice of adhering to the values of empathy, understanding, and compassion that form the foundation of a…
