Senator Josh Hawley Is Simply Wrong AboutThe 1812 War

The United States began the war that was not so much a war but a series of border skirmishes.

Since its creation, the USA has been in a number of wars. Actually, up to 2017, the USA had been at war 222 years of its 239 years as a nation.

The first war of what would become the USA was the American Revolutionary War or as it is more commonly known, The War of Independence. This was fought from 1775 to 1783 to create an independent nation of what was then the United Colonies of Britain.

Between the revolutionary war and the American Civil War (1861–1865) was the War of 1812, a little known conflict fought between the United States and the British, and what was to be known as Canada, from June 1812 to February 1815.

In his rant before the Senate on January 6th, 2021, Senator Hawley referenced this war, claiming that Britain through its Upper Canada colony attacked (out of hand) the US Congress building, insinuating the US was attacked by the British of Upper Canada on its northern border. Simply not true.
