The Modern Day Robber Barons — Oil Companies!
The are bleeding us blind.
I live in Vancouver in Western Canada and a few weeks ago, Vancouver had the highest gasoline prices in North America. Yes, we were NUMBER ONE, courtesy of the gouging, robbing oil barons and also, no thanks to the weak kneed governments, provincial, state and federal who let them get away with it.
Not only do the various levels of governments let the oil companies rob us blind but, THEY PROVIDE THEM WITH GRANTS, SUBSIDIES AND TAX BREAKS to do so!
Underfunded hospitals? Proliferating food banks? Poverty? Growing homeless population in all cities, everywhere? Starving children? Deteriorating infrastructure? Crowded prisons?
No worries folks. The oil companies need us all to pitch in to keep their outrageous profits from slipping from “out of this world” to just plain old “huge!” We are being robbed.
The price of a litre (about a quart for our American friends) of gasoline in Vancouver was $2.40 cents two weeks ago. If you convert that cost per litre into US dollars it equals $1.77. There are 3.78 litres in a US gallon. Multiply 3.78 litres X USD$1.77 and…
