The World Would Be A Better Place Without Social Media

I was born in 1943. I don’t know what my mother and father were thinking bringing a baby into the world while a major part of the same world was engulfed in war and terror.

May be I just happened.

When I was growing up, we had very limited access to media. We had books. We had comics. We had radio. For international news, the local movie theatre screened a 15 minute news clip called Movietone News prior to the main feature.

f we wanted to communicate we had the post (snail mail) and the telephone. If a communication had some urgency attached, we used something call a Telegram.

Now we are “blessed” with more ways of communicating than we ever dreamed of having mainly messaging services offered through a huge number of “apps”, courtesy of a phone we carry around in our pockets or purses and which has access to us, 24 hours a day unless we turn the damned thing off.
