Why I Appreciate Medium

If you have a story to tell, Medium is a great place to get feedback on your writing skills — or lack of.

For the past eight years, I have been writing business plans, technical books and other business material — dry, uninspiring but providing cash flow. There have always been story ideas, poems and such floating around in my brain so Medium provided an outlet.

I do not write on Medium for the money!

I write for the exposure and the feedback. I also write to get things off my chest. The big bonus I received from becoming a member and a contributor was the amazing amount of content I now have access to. Writers on Medium range from the bizarre to the whiney to the excellent.

Nothing is sacred on Medium. No topic no matter how outlandish or bizarre. I have learned much through reader Medium writer's posts. I have had my mind changed on many topics and have dug in my heels and contributed contrary opinions on many more.

Medium to me is a bastion of free speech. When you have finished writing your piece, all you have to do is submit and bam! — it's out there for all the world to see. You do not have to wait for it to be approved by an editor or a panel. You write and you post.
