Why I’m An Anti-Theist

No, not an atheist, an anti-theist.

According to the Oxford Dictionary: atheism is the theory or belief that God does not exist. The word comes (in the late 16th century, via French) from Greek atheos, from a- ‘without’ + theos ‘god’.

Whereas an anti-theist is: “One opposed to belief in the existence of a god”. … Anti-theism has been adopted as a label by those who regard theism as dangerous, destructive, or encouraging of harmful behavior.”

Sorry to all you god believers out there but after 77 years of life, two religions, studying many more, reading the bible, (Genisis and the New Testament) reading the hilarious book of Mormons, and the English version of the koran (not deserving of caps, sorry), we humans are all on our own. We always have been and we always will be. Back in the days before science began explaining natural phenomena such as lightning, thunder, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, storms, illnesses, pandemics, male pattern baldness, and bad breath, we pre-science humans had to have an explanation for all these occurrences. Hence the belief in good and bad spirits. The good ones were celebrated and the bad ones had to be placated; human sacrifice, bloodletting, etc.

Those readers who are theists, please don’t get me wrong. I am not saying your belief is wrong or misplaced. I am not knocking your choice. On the…
