What is a Petri dish? According to Wikipedia; “A Petri dish is a shallow transparent lidded dish that biologists use to hold growth medium in which cells can be cultured, originally, cells of bacteria, …”.
My definition of a cruise ship is: “A floating steel city, fully enclosed and inhabited by humans infected with growth medium in which cells can be cultured, originally, cells of bacteria, …”.
For example, COVID 19. Not only are cruise ships floating petri dishes but they are despoiling the very oceans they ply.
Princess cruise lines is one of the worst of a bad bunch. In 2016, Princess pleased guilty to seven felony charges and was fined a massive $40 million dollars. However, to this company, that is a cost of doing business for the cruise ship industry. The Office for the Southern District of Florida officials said that employees of a cruise ship, the Caribbean Princess, used a company developed device they called a “magic pipe”. This device was used to circumvent water-cleaning mechanisms and digital devices monitoring oil levels. Officials said that four other Princess ships were also found to have engaged in illegal practices to discharge waste both in ports and on the open ocean.
